There is no doubt that human activities intervene the biogeochemical cycling everywhere. Human activities cause a loss of biological diversity on an unprecedented scale. Lots of garbage was dumped, large-scale forest was cut down and the soil was eroded sharply. Agriculture, urbanization, industrial and transportation bring global pollution. These man-made influences unprecedentedly made human beings got into danger in the future (Zalasiewicz, J., P. J. Crutzen, & W. Steffen, 2012). Do human beings command the fate of earth so radically? There are many evidences to against that. Some basic factors make the life existence possible including the glow of sun, thermonuclear reaction, the shape of earth, rotation, gradient of slop, eccentricity of orbit, atmospheric circulation, etc. All these factors cannot be intervened by human beings.
Human beings are not able to hope to control lengthy evolution of earth. In the process, the intrinsic heat of earth push the formation of plate tectonics which causes new ocean floor constantly and slowly appear. Land forms, reshapes and rises. The distribution of lands and altitude are the determining factors to the climate change and habitability. Similarly, human beings seem to have no idea when facing the three severe consequences caused by plate tectonics, namely, vulcanian eruption, earthquake and tsunami (Domanska & Ewa, 2014). Human beings can bear their usual mild performance but some big cities in the world including Tokyo, Los Angles and Beijing which want to keep safe only when no big earthquakes happened. The modern civilization is possible to be destroyed by large-scale valcanian eruption. Though from the angle of cultural significance but not geological time, human beings also faces the great threats from minor planets which probably cause the earth explode. Human beings can predict the track of minor planets but cannot change them.
The events mentioned above rarely happened in any year, however, they contain great destructive power. The consequences are far beyond than human beings experience. Human beings have no good idea to deal with them but human beings should not pretend that the meaning of the loss of forest or the loss of fossil fuels is more influential and profound than the meaning of events mentioned above (Steffen, Will, et al, 2014). In addition, human beings should not hurry to put themselves as the creator in a new geological time. Why human beings do not wait for the time of duration of experiment controlled by human beings?
Here, the author is not able to judge and prove whether the time what we stayed is Anthropocene or not. However, the relations between human beings and nature are mutual. On the one hand, there is no denying that human activities affect the geobiochemical circulation. On the other hand, the history of earth is much longer than the human beings. No one can predict that human beings are live on the earth forever and govern the earth. The earth gave birth to human beings and fostered them. Human beings are the part of the earth. In other words, human beings are the dwellers of the earth and not the governor of the earth. Human beings seem to change the earth but more things cannot be changed by human beings. In the front of disasters, human beings are insignificant and fragile. Are human beings supposed to open another ten thousand years or another new geological times? Ten thousand years is short to the scientific time but is perpetual to the high-consuming modern civilization. Human beings should be grateful to name the time what they stayed through their movements. But let us be patient to wait before human beings to judge the marks of human are more important than the other marks on the earth.
